Marcus Park is a 40-hectare housing development, which will include a technology park, in Ruwa, just 20 minutes out of Harare, close to the Ruwa Shopping Centre on the Mutare Road, as well as Zimre Park and Sunway City.
In addition to 277 houses, three apartment blocks, and a technology park, the first of its kind in Africa, Marcus Park will boast a primary and secondary school and a shopping centre. The overall vision is to create a self-sufficient green community powered by solar energy and gas, complete with its own services, including sewerage and water, with a focus on providing security. In addition to the basic residential infrastructure and a durable road network, street lighting will be installed and fibre internet delivered to every doorstep.
The brainchild of Nick Bakaris, a long term Ruwa resident, Marcus Park has been approved by the Ruwa Local Board. Plans for Marcus Park were conceived two years ago, with details finalized in early 2015. Servicing commenced in August 2015 and is currently at an advanced stage, and it is hoped the entire project will be completed within the next three years.
